Camp Lutherhoma, Cherokee County

Camp Lutherhoma is situated along the Illinois River in eastern Oklahoma. In 1999 the property was registered to protect the Ozark spiderwort (Tradescantia ozarkana).

The Ozark spiderwort is a state rare species.

The Ozark spiderwort is a member of the mostly tropical Spiderwort Family, Commelinaceae. It is a perennial plant that ranges in height from 6-19 inches. The 3-petaled flowers can vary in color from white, pink, rose, to lavender. This species is native to both the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas and to the Ouachita Mountains of western Arkansas and southeastern Oklahoma.
